Got an old TV lying around? Busted DVD player taking up space? The Market on Macleod, a local farmer’s market, wants you to do something about it on April 16 in celebration of Earth Day.
The Market on Macleod is hosting an e-waste roundup between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., hoping to see Calgarians bring down all manner of broken-down computers, televisions, printers and other tech past its time.
In the eight years they’ve been doing the event, 15 million pounds of electronics have been responsibly recycled.
According to the Alberta Recycling Management Authority, once collected, electronics are reduced to commodities such as plastics, metals and glass to be reused in new products.
Visitors are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item donation for the Calgary Food Bank.
