Police said they believe the killing was targeted and are calling Birdi’s death a homicide.

Although Birdi’s autopsy has been completed, in a press release Friday, investigators said, “further testing is required before cause of death can be considered for release.”

Police are asking anyone with information about “Birdi’s movements” in the days leading up to his death to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or the homicide unit tip line at 403-428-8877.
