Minivan crashes into Saskatoon apartment building

Police have a man in custody after a minivan crashes into a Saskatoon apartment building. Calvin To / Global News

SASKATOON – Traffic restrictions are in place at Acadia Drive and 14th Street East following a crash Friday morning. Just before 7 a.m. CT, a minivan struck the building located on the east side of the T-intersection.

The driver fled on foot, but was followed by a witness.

The 20-year-old man was taken into custody by security officers at The Centre Mall on 8th Street.

He is now facing a number of criminal charges.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Police say traffic restrictions will be in place for several hours while they investigate and are asking drivers to avoid the area.
