MONTREAL – The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges corporation (JCCBI) has announced it will invest $300 million to maintain three of the city’s bridges.
Most of the work will take place over the summer.
“We know that it’s going to be difficult,” said Glen Carlin, CEO of the JCCBI.
“It will be eight long weeks of traffic impact on the Mercier Bridge. We’ve put in place a bunch of mitigation measures.”
“We will certainly be asking the patience of the users of that bridge to be understanding that we want to finish the work this year and we should no longer have important traffic impacts on that bridge for many years to come.”
Mercier Bridge
The Honoré Mercier Bridge will be reduced to one lane in either direction as of June 24.

Seventy-eight concrete panels will be installed on three of the access ramps coming in from the south shore.
The reinforcements are expected to extend the bridge’s lifespan by 75 years.
