REGINA – A Regina man is facing several weapons charges after police were called to the downtown area for a report of a man waving a gun around.
Police went to the 11th Ave. area in downtown after the man was observed pulling a pistol from his pocket and holding it to the neck of another person, while pushing him up against a wall.
Police found the suspect near the Regina Public Library with an airsoft gun tucked into his waistband. The orange safety tip of the airsoft pistol had been painted black, making it look more like a real firearm.
Patrick James Akapew, 20, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a scheduled substance and three charges of breach of probation.
Akapew made his first court appearance on Monday morning.
