Surrey residents shocked by 29th shooting this year

Surrey has recorded its 30th shooting so far this year, just 24 hours after it recorded its 29th shooting.

RCMP converged on the intersection of 88th Ave. and 132nd St, blocking and taping off the area around 6 p.m. Sunday. They found several casings on the road.

One witness says a car pulled up beside another, near the intersection and fired several shots.

In a release, Sgt. Dale Carr of Surrey RCMP, states that the vehicles were at the intersection behind a red light when gunfire erupted.

The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling south on 132nd St. from 88th Ave. while the victim vehicle was last seen going north. So far, no injuries have been reported.

No arrests have been made yet. At this point, it is not known if this shooting is linked to a string of recent shootings in the area.

Just yesterday, Surrey RCMP received reports of several shots being fired, just metres from Kirkbride Elementary School on 92 Avenue.

In that incident, police said one man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries in what is believed to be a targeted hit.
