Lorne Calvert joins Broten to rally Saskatchewan NDP supporters

REGINA – Former premier Lorne Calvert has made a surprise appearance on the last day of the Saskatchewan election campaign. Calvert joined NDP Leader Cam Broten to rally supporters Sunday in Regina, telling the crowd that New Democrats would be the best choice to watch the public purse strings.

Broten says the governing Saskatchewan Party inherited nearly $2 billion in the province’s rainy day savings account when it took over from Calvert in 2007, but Broten says the Sask. Party has since drained the fund dry.

Saskatchewan Party Leader and Premier Brad Wall took Sunday off to be with his family, as he has done throughout the campaign.

Wall did post a video on social media saying regardless of who people support, everyone should make sure they vote.
