In law enforcement, there’s nothing like a good tip to point you in the right direction.

Sometimes literally.

The Surrey Police department in the U.K. is publicly thanking a group of quick-thinking kids who, in the middle of an Easter egg hunt, formed a human arrow on the ground to show a police helicopter where a fleeing suspect was hiding.

“The swift action taken by the group of parents and their children was the sort of thing you would usually associate with an Enid Blyton adventure, but their ingenuity proved a great help for our crews,” Sergeant Paul Sochon with the National Police Air Service (NPAS) said in a press release.

Police were pursuing two suspects on the afternoon of March 25 in Capel, England. They were responding to reports the two men had broken into a nearby home.

At the same time, a group of 30 children and adults were taking part in a yearly Easter egg hunt a short distance away.

Seeing the police helicopter overhead, and the men fleeing on foot, the group quickly realized a police pursuit was underway – and decided to form a human arrow on the ground, pointing out for the police helicopter where one of the suspects was hiding.

According to police, the helicopter relayed this information to officers on the ground, and the two men were arrested a short time later.

“I’m sure the last thing the group of daring Capel residents expected when they set out on Friday afternoon was to abandon their Easter egg hunt to assist us in a police search, but the initiative they demonstrated proved to be invaluable,” Sergeant Sochon said.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with the incident.
