SUMMERLAND — Jai Zachary is celebrating after his seven-year-old company, ElectroMotion Energy, recently received a nod of recognition that their business is ready to take off.
Rocket Builders, a market strategy and consulting firm, put Zachary’s business on its Cleantech Emerging Rocket list. This honour is given to companies with most potential growth.
“I think I went ‘Woohoo,'” chuckles Zachary. “I was very flattered and impressed that we made that list because it’s quite an exclusive list.”
Zachary’s invention is called Revolution. It replaces a home’s conventional heating, cooling and hot water systems with the single unit.

The Revolution also allows homeowners to produce their own power thanks to an electrical generator that could use natural gas, diesel or propane to produce heat and electricity through combustion.
He says people could see their electricity bills drastically drop by as much as 70 per cent, with the possibility to sell surplus power back to the utility provider.
There’s already one family in Summerland that’s taking advantage of this technology and the town is in discussion with ElectroMotion Energy to bring the Revolution into more community homes.
“We are set up with Fortis to be able to do net metering, which means we can feed back into the grid. For us, it is pretty meaningful if we can go in that direction,” says Mayor Peter Waterman.
Waterman believes sustainable energy production will be more important in the future.
As Zachary works feverishly to get his product onto the market, making it onto the Cleantech Emerging Rocket List is providing him much-needed validation and the fuel to persevere.
