Toronto police are investigating a bizarre case of vandalism that saw windows at the Etobicoke Civic Centre smashed out, leaving glass strewn below — as if a bomb had gone off inside.
Photos from the scene show office chairs and at least one beat-up computer monitor sitting amidst a bed of shattered windows.
A chair was halfway out one window, which like others had bits of venetian blinds sticking out like broken teeth.
Const. Victor Kwong said officers and a forensics team have been at the site all day sifting through the mess after getting called to the building around 4 a.m. Tuesday for a break-and-enter.
Local councillor Mark Grimes said the damage was extensive.

“It’s kind of alarming that one person could do that much damage,” he said.
“It’s just ludicrous. Thousands of dollars if not more than that,” Grimes added.
Surveillance footage from inside the building shows a white male around 5 foot 7 inches tall, he said.
“They have some really good footage of who we’re looking for.”
Blood has also been found at the scene, Grimes added.
The MPP for the area deemed the vandalism a “crime spree.”

Major John Tory also weighed in, saying he was disappointed by the destruction.
The city said a temporary service desk has been set up while the civic centre is closed.
