CALGARY – Firefighters were able to rescue a cat from a house fire in the community of Whitehorn on Monday.
Emergency crews were called to Whiteridge Place N.E. at around 10 p.m.
When they arrived, firefighters found the blaze had engulfed the back deck of a bungalow-style house.

No injuries were reported and two people at home at the time were able to get out safely.
A family cat that couldn’t be found was later located by firefighters who administered oxygen to the animal as a precaution.
“As a reminder, if your family pet is trapped inside your home, tell firefighters right away,” the Calgary Fire Department warned in a news release. “Never re-enter a burning building.”
Firefighters were able to contain the fire and keep it from causing any damage to neighbouring homes.
Although the fire did spread from the back deck to the house, officials say the majority of the damage was contained to the rear of the home.
