A Quebec couple is about to embark on a canoe trip across Canada. Pierre Pepin, Jennifer Gosselin and their dog Jasmine are leaving from Winnipeg Mar 29 and are expecting to arrive in Moncton New Brunswick in Oct 2017.
The trip will take them more then 14 000 km and will require more than 200 portages. It will also take them across the Rocky Mountains twice. Much of the trip will follow tradition Voyageur trade routes used by the North West Company.
This is the second cross country canoe trip for the couple. To make this possible, they sold all their possessions and traveled 11 000 km in 2014-2015 going from Ottawa to the Florida Keys and back.
During their travels, they often rely on the generosity of strangers.
They will be bringing camera equipment as they would like to make a documentary focusing on climate change. They will also like to write a book.
You can follow their trip on their website here.
