The Edmonton Antique Car Club held its annual Easter parade Sunday. This year was the 52nd year for the event, which invites antique car lovers to tour the city with their restored vehicles from decades ago.

Ryan Surbey from the club says the organization — and the parade itself —  grows larger every year.

“You don’t need to have a car to join the club; just a love and thrill for the old automobiles,” Surbey said.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The 175 members of the club collectively own around 500 restored cars, which range from the early century right up to the 1950s.

Surbey says most vehicles have been personally restored by their owners back to factory-new levels and the public interest in the vehicles shows that pays off.

“We’re trying to get the public more involved,” he said. “We do senior citizens events every year and the stories they tell (us) are fantastic.”

The club shares upcoming public events on its Facebook page.
