Even though Midland police shared a video of the explosion on Facebook which has received over 240,000 views, they said the bomb squad exploded the fireworks during the daytime because “it was not meant to be a fireworks show.”

Some Facebook commenters were disappointed that the fireworks were destroyed, calling it a waste and suggested the fireworks could be sold or used for a community fireworks show.

However, the Midland police said the fireworks had to be destroyed due to a court order.
