WINNIPEG – Part of a highway in Selkirk has been closed because of flooding.

A section of Highway 204 southeast of the Red River is till shut down after crews blocked it off yesterday.

An ice jam on Friday evening caused river levels to rise temporarily but the jam broke up, according to a city of Winnipeg official.

The crest is expected to arrive further downstream in Winnipeg between Sunday and Tuesday.

The Red River is expected to remain within its banks and the flood way will not be used.

A release issued by the city of Winnipeg earlier this week said the crest could put five properties at risk.
