Bruce Springsteen is known for his hours-long sets, playing his hits late into the night.

Xabi Glovsky, 9, came prepared for Tuesday night’s concert in Los Angeles with a sign reading “Bruce, I will be late to school tomorrow. Please sign my note. :)”

Xabi, who is in Grade 4, was at the show with his father, Scott, who told the Claremont Courier that he has been singing his son to sleep with Springsteen’s tunes since he was a baby.

“Although there were many musicians and celebrities at the concert, we were the first people to see him after the show. Bruce said ‘There’s the big guy’ to my son,” Scott said.

They were then invited into the rocker’s dressing room where Xabi and Springsteen sat down for a chat.

Bruce then wrote for Xabi what might be the best late note, ever:

“Dear Ms. Jackson, Xabi has been out very late rocking and rolling. Please excuse him if he is tardy!”
