Friendship Inn keeps feeding Saskatoon’s hungry despite lack of water

SASKATOON – A local non-profit has spent three straight days providing food to people in need without the use of running water. A water main break on Saturday has left the Friendship Inn unable to prepare meals.

The centre started receiving bottled water, bagged lunches, fruit and even full pizzas over the weekend.

“It slowed down a little bit [Monday] because we didn’t do a call out today. We had enough from the weekend and we’re so grateful to everyone in the city for coming and rising above and going above and beyond,” said Sandra Stack, executive director of the Friendship Inn.

As of early Monday evening, the centre was still under a boil water advisory.

The Radisson Hotel has committed to providing lunch at the Friendship Inn on Tuesday, even if the water is restored.
