CALGARY – Candidates running in the Calgary-Greenway byelection will go head-to-head in an all candidates debate in Monterey Park at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The race to fill the legislature seat once held by the late Manmeet Bhullar, is a tight one.

Progressive Conservative MLA Manmeet Bhullar was killed in a car crash last November, after stopping to help a motorist who rolled into the median.

Bhullar, who previously served as Alberta’s Minister of Infrastructure, Minister of Human Services and Minister of Service Alberta, was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in March 2008.

According to a recent Mainstreet poll, PC candidate Prabhdeep Gill has the lead in a close four-way race.

Prabhdeep is trailed closely by NDP candidate Roop Rai, Wildrose candidate Devinder Toor and Liberal Khalil Karbani.

The Green Party confirmed its candidate, Thana Boonlert, will also attend Sunday’s debate.

The event is hosted by the Calgary Leadership Forum.
