Alberta man charged with using secret sex tape to extort Ontario ex

SUNDRE, Alta – RCMP have laid charges against a central Alberta man accused of trying to extort money from an ex-girlfriend in Ontario in exchange for a sex tape.

Sundre RCMP launched an investigation into the allegations on Feb. 22.

It’s alleged the man made the recording without the victim’s knowledge.

RCMP executed a search of the man’s home on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Lance Hughes, 56, of Sundre, is facing several charges including extortion, criminal harassment, voyeurism and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 21.
