Updated: Fatal collision on Highway 46

A driver of a pickup truck sustained serious injuries and a driver of a semi was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a collision west of Pilot Butte, Sask. Kael Donnelly / Global News

REGINA – A two-vehicle collision west of Pilot Butte, Sask. has claimed one life.

According to White Butte RCMP at approximately 2 p.m., a westbound pickup truck collided with an eastbound semi by the Green Acres Golf Course.

The driver of the pickup was first reported to have sustained serious injuries, and was later pronounced dead. The name of the deceased is not being released.

The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 46 was blocked in both directions for about five hours, but has since been reopened.

Police say the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
