Shephard was wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant in connection with what police called the “extremely violent” murder of Baylee Wylie.
Her lawyer asked for more time to review the case and she was remanded into custody until March 18.
Two others arrested
Stephen Nagle, the father of Shephard’s child, and Krystal Toole were also arrested Tuesday and appeared in court in Moncton.
Both are being charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Nagle was very outspoken in the courtroom, telling the court that Shephard was trying to turn herself in to police.

“This is ridiculous I thought she was dead,” Nagle said while crying.
Wylie’s body was found in a burned-out home in Moncton after a fire that occurred on Dec. 17.
Wylie family thanks public
“We can not say enough how relieved we are that all three sought in the murder are now in custody,” the Wylie family said in a statement to Global News.
They thanked the person who sent the tip in to RCMP and the Codiac Watch for apprehending Shephard and the others who police believe were involved in the murder.
“We want to thank the RCMP for their efforts and assisting our family in finding some semblance of closure,” they said, adding that they will now be focusing on seeking justice.
