WATCH ABOVE: Environment Canada predicted a blizzard, and though just a thin blanket of snow fell on the island of Montreal, it was enough to disrupt travel. Global's Kelly.Greig reports – Mar 2, 2016

MONTREAL – Environment Canada has lifted a blizzard warning for Montreal.

The forecast now states: “snow ending [Wednesday] morning, then mainly cloudy, blowing snow.”

About 5 cm of snow is expected to fall.

This winter has been a cocktail of oscillating temperatures, from well above freezing to icy and bitterly cold.

It’s been tough going for city crews over the last few days trying to keep the streets and sidewalks clear.

Monday, workers spread a 50-50 mix of road salt and gravel to break up the ice.
