Due to the high water levels, the Regional District has closed a popular park in Kelowna’s Ellison area.
Mill Creek Park off of Spencer Road is now behind a closed gate after a swollen Mill Creek flooded its access road and parking lot.
The Regional District believes some of the parks trails and bridge infrastructure may also be impacted.
The park will remain closed until parks staff can fully assess the flood’s impact.
The Regional District is warning people visiting creek side parks to remain on alert as water levels and flows have been increasing and could rise unexpectedly.
The public is being advised to stay away from the banks and edges of any area creeks. The message applies to pets as well.
