REGINA – General manager Brendan Taman has signed a one-year contract extension with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the CFL club announced on Saturday.
The deal will see Taman continue in his role with the Roughriders through the 2013 season.
“This extension was always important for the organization, but both sides wanted to make sure the coaching staff and roster was set for 2012 before we got this done,” said Roughriders president/CEO Jim Hopson in a statement. “We feel Brendan has significantly increased the talent level of this team and has helped put together one of the top coaching staffs in the CFL led by Corey Chamblin.”

Taman is entering his third year as Saskatchewan’s GM, and has been with the Riders since returning to the club in 2009. Taman took complete control of the football operations department in November of 2011.
“I am very grateful for the vote of confidence shown to me by Jim Hopson and our board of directors,” said Taman in a statement. “I understand the expectations that go along with this job and am confident with the team we have put together for this season.”
Before returning to his home province of Saskatchewan to work for the Riders, Taman spent 10 years working in the Winnipeg Blue Bomber organization, the last five of which were as the team’s general manager and vice-president of football operations.
