High river levels force state of emergency in Prince George

The Liard River is expected to crest today and recede over the following days. Officials say the river is high, fast moving and very dangerous. 19 homes remain under evacuation alert, along with 14 businesses.

Rescue crews had to step in and save two teenagers who were swept away while out for a swim in the rushing Fraser River last night.

The B.C. river forecast centre is keeping a close watch on high water around the province today.
