TORONTO – Toronto city council on Friday voted in favour of studying the possibility of hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The proposition came about after councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam introduced a motion on looking at holding a World Expo 2025 bid.

Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong then made an amendment to include reviewing the benefits of hosting the Games.
Toronto is scheduled to hold the Pan American Games in 2015.
The city tried but failed to land the summer Olympics for 1996 and 2008.
The winning bid will be announced in 2017.
