KELOWNA–Bystanders jumped into action on Wednesday afternoon, when a purse snatcher made off with a woman’s wallet at the intersection of Pandosy Street and Water Street.

It happened just after noon.  RCMP say a 28-year-old-woman had just gotten out of her car when someone approached her from behind, grabbed her clutch wallet from under her arm, and ran off.

The woman called out for help and two men quickly jumped into action.

When police arrived on scene, they found two men and a woman detaining a man on the ground.

“Two Good Samaritans were allegedly assaulted during the apprehension of the suspect. The bystanders each sustained minor to moderate facial injuries,” says Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Officers located the victim’s wallet pinned underneath the suspect as he was taken into police custody. The wallet was returned to the victim with everything still inside,” adds O’Donaghey.
