KELOWNA — A B.C. company learned it is better to give than to take, so it gifted $15,000 worth of windows and installation fees to a safe house in Kelowna.
NOW Canada Society was looking into replacing the windows of one of their safe houses. The non-profit organization provides housing and programs for women, youth and children who are vulnerable or at risk.
“This safe house was built in the 1960’s and its windows were well past their sell-by date” says Executive Director Liz Talbott.
Talbott was only looking for a quote when she contacted Centra Windows, but the estimator wanted to do more to assist.
“I am involved with the youth mental health programs in Kelowna, so this particular job held a special spot close to my heart,” says Chad Guidi, a Centra employee.
Centra decided to donate all the windows, screens and the front door to the non-profit group. In addition, the installers donated their time to install the windows.
“Being a good corporate citizen is more than just creating jobs, it’s about supporting the communities in which we operate. You have to connect with community and find ways to align and support it,” says Garett Wall, Centra’s President & CEO.
Talbott thanks everyone involved and is grateful to Centra Windows.
