UPDATE – Two people have now been charged in connection with the home invasion.

Walter Daryl Spence is accused of seven offenses, including robbery using a restricted weapon and pointing a firearm.

Michelle Dawn Pieritsch is charged with robbery using a restricted weapon and robbery.

Both suspects are being held in custody pending bail hearings.

 

KELOWNA – Police have arrested five people in connection with a violent home invasion in Kelowna on February 17th.

The attack happened in Yaletown, a condominium complex in Kelowna’s Glenmore area, at 9:45 a.m.

Police say one person was shot and taken to hospital.

“One of those arrested has been taken to hospital for the treatment of injuries believed to be sustained during the break-in,” said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey. “His injuries are being described as serious in nature, but are believed to be non-life threatening.”

RCMP say the resident was unharmed during the altercation.

Police subsequently arrested four suspects in the Hein Road area of Rutland.

Police have not released any further details including a possible motive, or potential charges.
