Suspect arrested after woman allegedly carjacked in Langley

An Abbotsford man has been arrested after a woman had her vehicle stolen at gunpoint in Langley.

Cpl. Holly Largy says on Feb. 9 at 9:40 p.m., the woman called police saying her vehicle had been stolen.

The woman was waiting for her husband in the 6000 block of 204th St., according to Largy.

The victim heard the driver’s door open and assumed it was her husband, but it was a stranger pointing a gun at her and telling her to get out.

The suspect drove off, but a short time later, the vehicle crashed into a hydro police in the 6200 block of 238A St.

An officer with a police dog was nearby and tracked the suspect who was found hiding in a garden shed.

A search found the gun, which turned out to be a very realistic looking replica.

Dustin Joseph Murphy, 31, has been charged with robbery and other offences.
