CALGARY – A creative Calgarian has designed a series of comical valentines featuring each of Calgary’s 15 city council members.
Alyssa Moore posted the valentines online on Wednesday, and began sharing them through her Twitter account.
Each valentine features the face of the city’s council members, including Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi, and a punny phrase that uses their name.
As an example, one of the valentines features the face of Ward 12’s Shane Keating with the words “be still, my Keating heart.”
Another valentine features Ward 9’s Gian-Carlo Carra and the phrase “I really Carra ‘bout you.”
Moore, an employee at local non-profit Cybera, actually works with Carra’s wife. As such, she admitted his valentine was the first she created.
“I think they had a good laugh about it,” Moore said.
As for Nenshi’s valentine, it has a picture of the mayor smiling underneath the message “I just can’t get you outta Naheed.”
Nenshi seemed pleased with his valentine, taking to Twitter to talk about it.
Moore said the toughest name to create a valentine for was Ward 6’s Richard Pootmans.
“I didn’t get to use the ‘Pootmans’ in full, I had to take the ‘s’ off.”
Moore joked the valentines were probably the best use of her political science degree thus far.
