Musqueam protest slows traffic on Vancouver side Arthur Laing Bridge Thursday morning

About 50 demonstrators from the Musqueam Nation caused some traffic delays on the Vancouver side of the Arthur Laing Bridge Thursday morning.

Vancouver police spokesman Const. Lindsey Houghton said officers were on scene monitoring the situation and that southbound traffic is blocked to vehicles.

The Musqueam Nation sent out a release yesterday, saying the blockade would occur during the rush hour between 7 and 9 a.m.

Richmond RCMP advised motorists to take an alternate route.

The bridge connects the Sea Island and Vancouver International Airport with Marpole, the site of a dispute between condo developers and the Musqueam, who argue the land is an ancient burial site.
