The suspect was found lying in a ditch with a rifle, and wouldn’t cooperate with police when asked to surrender.

Mounties made the decision to call in the tact team and K-9 unit after six hours of negotiations with the suspect.

The suspect tried to race from the scene on foot, but was caught by officers and a police dog.

The 29-year-old was treated in hospital for minor injuries and is now facing firearms charges related to unsafe use and storage of a firearm, and will undergo a mental health assessment.
