VPD wants help naming new Clydesdale
WATCH: The Vancouver Police department is looking for the public's help in naming its newest member - a massive Clydesdale. As Tanya Beja explains, the recruit has already helped make an arrest – Feb 10, 2016

You can help name the newest addition to the Vancouver Police Department – a four-year-old Clydesdale horse.

Over the last 60 days, the VPD Mounted Unit has been assessing the horse and he performed better than officers imagined he would. He also gets along well with the other horses and has “a very mellow demeanor and huge feet.”

However, he still needs a name. Police officers and civilian staff at the VPD stables have narrowed the name selection to four possibilities and would like the public to make the final decision for the horse that will represent Vancouver while patrolling Stanley Park and areas of the West End.

The submitted names are:

  • Juno
  • Vimy
  • Justice
  • Mason

The public can pick their favorite name at www.vpd.ca. Those who vote will be entered into a draw on Feb. 22 to win a tour of the VPD stables and meet the new horse. The winning name will be announced on Feb. 23.
