WINNIPEG — Buck Pierce is switching roles, moving from coaching running backs to overseeing quarterbacks for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
“There’s things I’m still learning but I’ve been a quarterback my whole life,” Pierce said. “I’m super excited to get into this role and pass on my knowledge. Watching guys have success is very fulfilling for me as a coach.”
The former quarterback is rejoining offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice, who was the head coach with the Bombers for two and a half seasons when Pierce was on the team.

Pierce announced his retirement in 2014, after playing nine seasons in the CFL with the Blue Bombers and B.C. Lions.
“My passion burns just as strong as it did when I was a player,” said Pierce. “I believe the future here is extremely optimistic.”
In his new position, Pierce will be in charge of developing the Bombers’ quarterbacks including starter Drew Willy.
“Drew does a lot of great things,” said Pierce. “He can be one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league. My job is to help get him there.”
