Calgary Knit-A-Thon raises money for The Little Hippies Foundation

CALGARY – It’s not your usual way of raising money but that didn’t stop the Little Hippies Foundation as they held a Knit-A-Thon all day Saturday at Eau Claire Plaza.

People gathered to knit scarves, mitts and toques for roughly seven hours to raise money for Calgary-based organization The Little Hippies Foundation’s 2016 programs and mental health initiatives.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

All knitted goods are donated to kids at Inn from the Cold and Journey House.

Pledges were also welcome and all the knitting supplies were provided.

The Little Hippies Foundation provides free yoga programs to kids who are sick, recovering, have special needs, or who come from low-income families.

Before the Knit-A-Thon, the organization raised more than $3,000 online through pledges.
