Vancouver bound Air Canada Flight 549 diverted to Toronto

A Vancouver bound flight has been diverted to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport after reports of a severe drop in altitude.

Flight AC549 departed Newark Liberty International Airport just before 6 p.m. ET and landed in Toronto shortly before 8 p.m. ET.

The airline has said that a pressurization problem led to the flight landing in Toronto and that they are making arrangements for passengers to carry on to Vancouver as soon as possible.

No official word on if there are any injuries, though one passenger posted on social media that everyone seemed fine.

A photo posted on Twitter showed oxygen masks hanging from overhead compartments.

The same passenger said he had boarded another flight en-route to Vancouver.
