City rejects a “Know Your Zone” for other city services

Residential plowing starts Friday morning in Winnipeg. The only way to find out when your street will be plowed is by the Know Your Zone system on the City of Winnipeg website.

WINNIPEG — Winnipeggers still struggling to understand the Know Your Zone snow clearing program won’t have to worry about the city adding more services to it.

The city administration was asked last year to look into making one zone for residential snow clearing, spring street cleaning and mosquito fogging.

A report set to be presented to Public Works committee next weeks recommends against the creation of a one zone program because “there is no easy transition to a one zone system.”

The report says there are significant differences between the services. Instead of making a one zone system, the city administration recommends focusing more on the apps and the city’s website.

City councillors will vote on the report on Tuesday.
