Texting scam targets cellphone users

Mobile phones are the newest target for scammer and hackers.

The latest making the rounds is a texting spam which says you’ve won a contest.

The text appears to come from Best Buy, and provides a link to what looks like the Best Buy website in order to claim a prize.

Best Buy says the link is a fake and could be a phishing attempt to collect personal information or passwords.

Clicking on the link may also download a virus and result in multiple texting fees.

If you get the text, delete it.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre has a little black book of scams.
