MONTREAL – Less than six months after getting married in an extravagant ceremony in Quebec City, Parti Québécois leader Pierre Karl Péladeau and Montreal TV producer Julie Snyder are calling it quits.

The couple confirmed the news after rumours started swirling when the two showed up separately to René Angélil’s funeral last Friday.

The couple announced that divorce proceedings are underway, they have entered a mediation process and do not want to comment further.

This is not the first time the two have separated, in a relationship that began about 15 years ago.

Péladeau and Snyder previously broke up two years ago, but reconciled after a few months.

They have two children together.
