A boil water order was issued in the village of Carmangay, Alta. Friday afternoon.
An Alberta Emergency Alert said water in the area may be unsafe to drink or use, and said the order would stay in effect for at least three days.
Sue Dahl, assistant administrator with the Village of Carmangay, said the alert is due to maintenance issues. She said a leak was found in a major water line Thursday, and the entire system had to be shut down to repair the leak. She said Friday it’s since been repaired, but Alberta Environment advised the boil water order was necessary until water samples have been analyzed.
The government instructed residents to bring water to a “rapid rolling boil for one minute prior to use or drink bottled water only.”
Carmangay is about 160 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
