Claimed off waivers from the Calgary Flames, Byron has eight goals and 11 assists in 35 games for Montreal this season.

He leads the NHL with five short-handed points.

The Canadiens had no update on defenceman Nathan Beaulieu, who suffered a lower body injury in the first period against Boston.

Defenceman Victor Bartley was assigned to the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.
