She’s been based out of Edmonton in recent years, but is now living in London, returning from the UK to work on this show.

“My life is in both places, a little bit like The Little Prince,” said Gerecke. “I love it”.

Her work on the production involves creations ranging from a mirrored suit to a snake costume made of the same plastic used in hockey rink boards.

“Bretta was the exact person to do it,” said Theatre Calgary’s artistic director Dennis Garnhum. “The thing about The Little Prince is – it’s all about explosive imagination”.

The production opens Friday January 22nd, running through until February 28th at Theatre Calgary.
