A male in his late teens was seriously injured while skiing at Nakiska Ski Resort early Friday afternoon.

“On arrival, paramedics were met by Nakiska patrollers with a skier under their care in the first aid room,” Stuart Brideaux, public education officer for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Calgary Zone, said.

Brideaux said the teen apparently lost control and struck his head.

After assessing his condition, paramedics requested STARS air ambulance attend for rapid transport to hospital.

The patient was flown to Foothills Hospital in Calgary in serious, potentially life-threatening condition.

Nakiska is about 100 kilometers west of Calgary.
