One person dead after fatal crash north of Yorkton

YORKTON, Sask. – One person has died in a two-vehicle collision near Yorkton, Sask.

RCMP say the crash happened five kilometres north of the city on Highway 9, when a pickup truck travelling northbound struck a southbound minivan that was attempting to pass another vehicle.

According to police, the van lost control and was then hit by the truck.

One of the occupants of the van died at the scene. The name, gender and age of the deceased has not been released by police. Another occupant of the van was taken to Regina General Hospital.

The driver of the truck received minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

Yorkton Rural RCMP have now reopened the highway.
