WINNIPEG — The first big deep freeze of the season has hit Winnipeg and it’s leaving drivers with dead batteries across the city and keeping CAA Manitoba very busy.

CAA driver James Smith shared three tips with Global News to keep drivers from getting stranded with a dead battery.

  1. Maintain your battery. A car battery has a life span of roughly five years. A battery dying is usually one of the first signs that it is reaching the end of its life.
  2. Bring your car in for a tune up before winter or bring it in regularly for maintenance through the winter season.
  3. Plug in your car.
