Toronto man charged after fake airline ticket scam netted $275,000: Police

TORONTO — A Toronto man is facing charges after police allege he bilked would-be flyers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by selling fake airline tickets while posing as a travel agent.

Police say the bogus tickets were offered at a discount between August and October 2015, and that the man also ran a foreign-currency investment scam.

All told, he allegedly fraudulently took around $275,000, mainly targeting Toronto’s Italian community.

Investigators believe there may be other alleged victims and are asking anyone with information to contact them.

Mike Di Giulio, 39, was arrested last Tuesday and faces six counts of fraud over $5,000.

He’s due in court Tuesday.

Police allege Di Giulio used aliases including Michael Angelo and Mike Antonio De Santos.
