Fatal accident in Mission; RCMP believe marijuana partly responsible

Police say “marijuana use was a contributing factor” to an accident in Mission that killed an Abbotsford man this morning.

It happened at 9 a.m. on Lougheed Highway between Chester and Nelson Street. A black 2015 Dodge truck with two people inside was travelling east towards Mission, when it crossed the centreline and hit a white 2012 Chevrolet van.

The only person in the van, and Abbotsford man in his sixties, was killed. His name has not been released.

Mission RCMP arrested the driver of the truck, a 25-year-old Abbotsford resident. They are recommending a charge of impaired driving causing death.
