Editor’s note: In May 2016, Gaudot was sentenced for two charges of break and enter and one charge of attempted theft under $5,000. He was given a 130-day sentence, less time served of 130 days. As such, he served no additional jail time.

EDMONTON – An investigation into a year-long string of industrial and commercial robberies in the Edmonton area has resulted in the arrests of two people.

Edmonton police began an investigation in October into a number of break and enters at industrial and commercial businesses.

The break and enters started in February and continued through December, with a crime happening almost every day during a two week stretch in late November and early December, police said.

The incidents include robberies in homes under construction, as well as theft of tools, tires, rims and other vehicle parts.

During one of the most recent incidents, someone used a skidsteer loader to break into a fenced compound where more than $3,500 of spooled copper wire was stolen, according to police.

Edmond Gaudot, 41, is facing a long list of charges including 11 counts of break and enter, theft over $5,000, two counts of theft under $5,000, seven counts of property under $5,000, and trafficking of stolen property over $5,000.

Brianne Martin, 33, is facing charges of attempted theft under $5,000, break and enter and breaching conditions on a recognizance.

Police recommend keeping track of serial numbers of valuables or marking them in a unique way.

“When we do recover stolen items, it is always a bonus to be able to return them to their rightful owners,” Const. Jennifer Eichmann said.
