REGINA – Investigation continues after a pedestrian was hit by a car and killed early Friday morning.
Police were called just after 2:30 a.m. to Victoria Avenue between Park Street and Ring Road, where a 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 19-year-old driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. Police say he’s the one who dialed 911 after the pedestrian was hit.
Investigators confirm the collision was not in an intersection.
There hasn’t been a decision on if any charges will be laid.
“Because it’s very early in this investigation and there’s a lot we don’t know, it really is in appropriate to offer any advice or conclusions … because we just don’t know enough yet,” said Regina Police spokesperson Elizabeth Popowich.
Popowich says alcohol was not a factor with the driver.
